Soho, London
1996
Placing the bathroom and kitchen in a series of aligned walls in this small central London loft permitted an en-suite arrangement for the bedroom and maximum space for the living area. The box next to the kitchen contains the bath and shower. Both sections of the bathroom can be closed off with individual doors. The remainder of the bath box contains a utility area and kitchen appliances. A lowered ceiling strip is suspended to provide task lighting for the kitchen and uplighting to the main space. The linear arrangement of the bathroom and kitchen maximises the living space and emphasises the length of the apartment, creating a space that appears far larger than it is.
